EFBC/FCC - Tours

__________
The Exotic Feline Breeding Compound (EFBC)'s Feline Conservation Center (FCC), in Rosamond, California, is open to the public. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. However, photographic privileges are reserved for members only.

We are open every day except Wednesdays and Christmas day, from 10 am until 4 pm. Most of the compound is open for visitors to wander around at their own pace. Informative plaques describe the cat species in detail, and docents are available to answer all of your questions. Unlike a zoo, the FCC has no moats between you and the animals. Visitors can get as close as 3 feet away from these beautiful (but dangerous) cats. That is why part of the compound is only open to guided tours (see below). The only time visitors may wander around all of the compound without a tour guide is at Twilight Tours.

Tours, led by a docent/volunteer, take you into a part of the compound that is not open to the public otherwise. When offered, tours go out every half-hour, or whenever enough visitors desire one. If we are short-handed on staff, there are no guided tours. Or if a cat has given birth recently, part of the compound may be closed so she is not disturbed. And in extremely hot weather, tours may not be available. Summer temperatures can reach 120 degrees Farenheit. In the winter, it sometimes snows. Wear comfortable walking shoes for your visit.

The cats are more active in cooler weather, and at Twilight Tours.

Scheduled Tours and Slide Shows

Children and cat lovers of all ages are fascinated by EFBC/FCC cats. Families and small groups are welcome whenever we are open; large groups (>15 people) should call (805) 256-3793, weekdays except Wednesday, 10am-4pm Pacific time a few days before they visit, to schedule a tour. There is a $1 per person, $25 minimum charge, for a scheduled tour; however, scheduled tours do receive a longer guided tour than walk-in visitors, and photo priviledges are granted to scheduled tours. Also, we can visit your location with a slide show, offered at no charge within the Antelope Valley. Call the above number or email cathouse@qnet.com for more information.
